Mattress Recycling Fee

WHAT IS A MATTRESS RECYCLING FEE?

Mattress recycling fees are mandated by law in some states & support a state’s ongoing
recycling efforts. Mattress recycling fees apply in California, Connecticut, Oregon, & Rhode Island.

  • When It's Collected: This fee is collected at the point of sale and based on the delivery state
  • Tax Disclaimer: This fee can be subject to sales tax in certain states
  • How It's Applied: This fee is applied "per piece" (example: a king mattress set with two foundation pieces would incur three fees.)
  • How It Works: With this program, customers can drop-off their used mattresses and box springs at their local solid waste transfer station at no cost, or use organizations in their state to collect, transport, and recycle old mattresses.

Note: The mattress recycling program is separate from our Macy’s Haul Away service. Our Haul Away is the service we offer to remove customers’ old bedding on White Glove or Room of Choice mattress deliveries.

  • Our Haul Away fee is separate from the mattress recycling fee
  • If choosing Haul Away, we can only remove one mattress set for each set that is being delivered or one mattress for each mattress that is being delivered
  • When requesting Haul Away, we charge a $25 fee for each set to be removed
  • We do not haul away the following:
    • In home drop off deliveries
    • Old furniture
    • Waterbeds, air beds, adjustable beds, or bed frames
    • Mattress/mattress sets that are affected by bed bugs, stained or soiled
